Students from the Fall 2023 Wesleyan Startup Incubator: The Art and Science of Launching Your Idea – a one-semester, experiential learning program designed to teach and enable student entrepreneurs to develop sustainable business models from their ideas – pitched their businesses on December 5th. 

This course is made possible by the Robert and Margaret Patricelli Family Foundation. Funding for the students to create their Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) has been generously provided by Wesleyan Alum Marisa MacClary.

Enhanced Soil Sense

Enhanced Soil Sense is a soil amendment company. Adding basalt dust maximizes current crop yield and ensures future soil health and viability. In addition to the soil and crop yields, basalt dust removes carbon from the atmosphere and allows farmers to market products as carbon negative can increase profit margins. Farmers are also able to receive grant money from using basalt dust and not aerated their fields.

ReelDeals is a multi-avenue business that provides quality used fishing gear to function as alternatives to brand new gear and allows you to simultaneously sell your gear. 

 

SeaFeed

Cattle farmers want to use seaweed-based feed additives to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, but it is unclear which products are right for their farm, and how well they will work there.

Seafeed provides procurement and emissions measurement services for methane-busting cattle-feed additives. Our clients will receive the best solution for their farms and will know how much their emissions have gone down by, opening the door for climate-friendly products, compliance with personal or corporate sustainability goals, or the sale of carbon credits.
